<image:caption>Kids Achieve, LLC Improves Children’s Motor Skills Fine Motor Skills: Children use fine motor skills whenever their hands are involved in an activity. Certain tasks such as buttoning, zipping, and holding a pencil when writing require adequate hand strength, control, and dexterity. Some children have trouble with these tasks or may avoid them altogether! Gross Motor Skills: When children use whole body movements to perform tasks they are using their gross motor skills. These include balance, bilateral coordination, and organizing the sequence of movements in a task. If your child has poor gross motor skills, he or she may have difficulty participating in team sports, maintaining an upright position while seated, and engaging in activities where both hands are needed.</image:caption>

<image:caption>Treatment with pediatric occupational therapy is beneficial for children with sensory issues or over- and under-responsivity to certain sensory stimuli. Your child may be processing sensory information differently if he or she is sensitive to sounds, touch, or different foods. In addition, he or she may be seeking out sensory input throughout their day including loving to crash their body into things and seek out rotary (spinning) movement.</image:caption>
